Transferable Skills Letter

 To Whom It may Concern:

The job listings page on the Allegis Financial Partners website indicates you are looking for a full-time Financial Advisor in Orem, Utah.  The positions shows you are looking for someone with a bachelor's degree, at least one year of experience in customer service, and a knowledge of the financial planning industry.

With a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from Utah Valley University (UVU), three years experience of customer service, and a very current knowledge of the financial planning industry, I am confident I am qualified to fill this position.

In my three years of experience in customer service, I have learned what it takes to ensure customers are completely satisfied with their experiences in my stores. These skills will also be necessary as a financial planner because my clients will have unknown financial needs and wants that I must fulfill.  The client's experience with the firm is of great importance for future business, and I know that my service will be exceptional.

I look forward to hearing from you shortly.

Sincerely,

Brian Wilde

Skills Assessment

Three skills that I enjoy:
1. Planning
2. Consulting
3. Optimistic

Three skills that I perfom well:
1. Optimistic
2. Responding
3. Team Building

Three skills I would like to develop:
1. Closing
2. Delegating
3. Creativity

It is very difficult to think of how I am going to develop these skills. Closing is a skill I want to gain because in my current job I have to be good at closing deals/sales and I really struggle with it sometimes. I think that by practicing and practicing and with more experience I will develop this skill.

Delegating is something I have struggled with because sometimes I just think I need to do it all when I know this not need be the case. People are willing to help out, you just need to ask them. I will work on this by ensuring that in every responsibility I have, I see what others can do to make the responsibility more efficient and effective.

Creativity is something with which I have always struggled. It is tough to think outside the box, and I guess I just need to read books on ways to be more creative. I also think I can ask other's opinions on ideas to find creativity as well.

In the online skills assessment test I was not surprised at all by my results. My top careers were CEO of a company, high school teacher, and higher education teacher. These are things that have always interested me. I guess it is because I love to teach things and help others in a positive way. I have put off the idea of being a teacher for a while because of the lack of pay, but I know I would love to do it someday. It could be a possibility for me when I am closing in on the age of retirement.

Personal Values

Top 10 Values
1. God/Religion
2. Family
3. Self-Confidence
4. Love
5. Integrity
6. Kindness
7. Service
8. Interaction with Others
9. Positive Influences
10. Hard Work
-God/Religion: Is the reason I do what I do. It is the reason I believe what I believe. These affect my career choice because I will always choose my God over my career.
-Family: Is very important to me, and I know they will always be there for me. My future career needs to allow me to spend quality time with them. However, also must provide for them with a sufficient income.
-Self-Confidence: This allows me to do the things I do cheerfully and excitedly. I have to be confident in myself if I am going to be successful in anything. My career must help motivate me.
-Love: This allows me to enjoy everything I do. If I do not love my job, it will be hard for me to be motivated.
-Integrity: This allows me to be trusted and to trust in others. Lack of integrity creates big problems in any family or community environment. I need to be surrounded in a work environment with people of integrity.
-Kindness: This goes a long ways. Being kind has an immediate effect on everyone with whom we interact. If I am kind to others and they are kind to me, no matter what happens, we can develop a positive relationship.
-Service: I want to help people feel better about themselves and feel like a burden has been lifted from their shoulders. My career should help in accomplishing this.
-Interaction with Others: I am a people-person. I want to interact with others in my future career because I know I am happier when I do.
-Positive Influences: These have a big effect on everyday life. If our influences are negative and pessimistic, we often become those people. A positive work environment is where I want to be.
-Hard Work: This brings a sense of accomplishment and achievement. These feelings motivate me each and every day.
I do not think these values will change in my life. Many other values that I believe in exist that are not on my top ten list, so I could see a few of them getting rearranged.

Mission Statement

To have a positive influence on others through love and dedication in everything I do. To help myself and others realize that life is here to be enjoyed.
